I have always been a firm believer in providing valuable service to our community through volunteer work and contributions. I call your attention to the following two organizations with whom I work and assist in solving their computing needs:
- CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) - CASA is the only non-profit program working within the court system and utilizing court-appointed volunteers to help abused and neglected children find safe, permanent, nurturing homes as quickly as possible. A child placed into a nurturing and safe environment may avoid the prolonged problems that occur as a result of abuse and neglect. If a child's needs are met through CASA's careful observation and intervention, we can be assured that the best road map is chosen and provided by the courts.
I have been a volunteer CASA advocate for over 5 years and assist their office staff in solving their computing needs. Please visit the CASA web site, designed by SteveT.Net, at:
- Santa Barbara Special Olympics - The local program was established in 1969 and is open to all individuals over the age of eight with a developmental disability who live in southern Santa Barbara County. Today Santa Barbara Special Olympics is an ambitious program with more than five hundred athletes and six hundred volunteers. Competition at all levels of athletic ability is offered, with training provided by certified volunteer coaches. The benefits of Special Olympics to the athletes and those who support them are many. Through sports training and competition, people with developmental disabilities grow physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Families are brought together and strengthened, and the community as a whole gains in understanding through the shared commitment to these individuals.
I have been assisting the Santa Barbara Special Olympics for several years now and I encourage you to get involved in this worthy organization. Please visit their web site at:
